A Brief History Of Marianne Williamsons 2024 Presidential Campaign

Marianne Williamson Suspends Campaign, Then Resumes Bid

A Brief History of Marianne Williamson's 2024 Presidential Campaign

Marianne Williamson, an author and spiritual advisor, announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States on March 8, 2023. However, she suspended her campaign on February 7, 2024, after failing to gain traction in the polls. Williamson cited her belief that she had not "earned the level of support necessary to win the nomination" as the reason for her decision.

On April 12, 2024, Williamson announced that she was resuming her campaign for office. She said that she had been contacted by "thousands of people" who had urged her to continue her run for the presidency. Williamson also said that she had "a lot more to say" about the issues facing the country.

The 2024 Democratic Primary Field

Williamson is one of several candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for president in 2024. Other candidates include former Vice President Joe Biden, Senator Bernie Sanders, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg. The Democratic primary is expected to be competitive, and it is still too early to say who will ultimately win the nomination.

Marianne Williamson's decision to suspend and then resume her campaign is a reminder that the Democratic primary is still fluid. With several months to go before the first primary vote, it is still possible for any of the candidates to emerge as the frontrunner.
